I haven't had any issues with it - it just pops up a message in my system tray that it's downloading music, then adding it to my iTunes library. Otherwise I never notice that it's there, and my virus scan hasn't picked it up as an problem. But then again, I'm not quite as tech savvy as you are. I see. The downloader is free as in free beer but not free as in free speech. You can't pick it apart to see what it's actually doing. It's probably innocuous, but you never know. I'm picky. I don't think I would have installed it if I had to pay for it, since I'm ridiculously cheap about stuff like that. Unless it's a different downloader, but I've downloaded everything from their free songs to whole albums when they're super cheap. Has it changed to being a paid app? I've only had it for about a year, if that.
