Jordon, even though you are a freshman, your major is important in directing who you'll meet and what classes you'll take. Don't take no for an answer! Change it now.

Everyone seems really keen on not having me change my major. I just asked the engineering guy who was helping me decide classes, and he basically said, "With this other major you'd be taking all the same classes, so just change it later."

I went to a 2-year college, and I had 3 different majors over 4 semesters. Changing majors is easy - fill out a form that is usually available in the registrar's office, get the leader of your new major to accept you, have them sign it, then have the leader of your old major sign off. Then turn it in.

You should, in theory, be able to register for any class that you have met the prerequisite for, no matter what your major. Your school should have a list of courses that are required for each major, so use that as a guide. Just don't wait or you'll get a sucky schedule.
