I went on the aforementioned field trip to Miami Metrozoo yesterday. I was pretty sure the bus ride wasn't going to take two hours, as they had said. Mapquest, Yahoo, and Google all gave figures of between an hour and 1:15 for the trip from school to zoo. Turns out they were right. We left at about 7:30 and got there early, before it opened, so we stayed on the bus and just about finished the movie we were watching.
So we got to see animals in their natural habitats and such. I tell you, it's one thing to see these things on the Discovery Channel, but it's another to see exotic animals in real life. Since I'm not in any of the classes that went on the trip, I didn't feel that I had to do the assignment that mostly everyone else had to do: find the scientific names of some animals and write how certain animals have adapted to their environments. I was only invited because I had been in one of the classes (Biology Honors) last semester. And I heard that the teacher filled the rest of the spots by offering the trip to random people in the hallway. So a few people and I got to enjoy the trip without doing any work (which would have counted for a grade if we were in the class).
What I especially enjoyed about the trip was that I got to hang out with this girl that I think I like. I hadn't really known her before, so we sort of met for the first time. We have a few classes together, though, so we know each other's names. I think she's single because she said her dad would kill her if she had anything to do with guys. That's good... in a bittersweet sort of way.
Hollin : I really REALLY need an idea for a skit !
Start with some performance art. Act out the seasons of the year or something. Don't forget to use a gong. Then perform a dramatic drama scene, but do it backwards. Include slapstick and try to add as many puns as you possibly can. After that, ponder the meaning of life while having all of the actors eating from the same bowl of spaghetti with lots of garlic in it. Have each actor count the ways that they love each other while gurgling wine. Whenever I hear the word "skit," I think of dancing. So be sure to include lots of dancing. Try a dance from each decade of the 20th century. Have 10 people -- one for each decade -- dancing at the same time, but instead of actual music, have someone beatboxing. Finally, raise the curtain and take a bow and arrow.
Tom: Do you see an increase in traffic on your site after j-walk linked to you in a post?
No, no change.
nicole: how is a liger made
Well, when a mommy tiger and a daddy lion love each other very much...
Actually, they don't really coexist in the wild, so all ligers are bred from captive animals. By contrast, a tigon is the progeny of a male tiger and a female lion.
Tired of difficult video games? Try Tetris 1D: a one-dimensional version of everybody's favorite block-stacking game. It's amazingly boring. I gave up at 16,400 points. The high score is 998,462,800.
