Post-show party

Wed May 11, 2005 20:25 EST (UTC -5)

The party for the cast and crew of the variety show will be after school tomorrow. The show was filmed (they've been playing segments on the morning TV announcements), so we'll have a chance to watch each other's acts and make fun of how bad everyone was. Of course I'll be one of the main recipients of everyone's ribbing. No one will let me forget how bad I looked on stage, just strumming at the guitar, perfectly still (true) and expressionless (false). It shouldn't be that big of a deal for me, but it is because everyone's pointed it out to me. That, and I've never really been criticized about my stage performance before. I'm not used to it.

A related item for guitarists only: it's a sort of virtual guitar (Flash plugin required) that you can use to hear and create different chord shapes. It's great for trying to figure out the name of that chord you want to know the name of because it can do that too. I can imagine other musicians finding it useful, but it's mainly a guitar thing.

People slam Google all the time, but this is just bad: Google Content Blocker. The opposite of an ad blocker, the Google Content Blocker blocks all content on a page except the ads. The site and the program are a parody of Google and its myriad web services, many of which raise privacy issues or are just downright stupid. I'm surprised that the Content Blocker page has no disclaimer that it's a parody. I bet its creator (none other than J-Walk) just wants to see how long it is before the cease-and-desist letter arrives.
